Picking your next vacation destination isn’t easy, but there’s a better way than tracing an atlas with your eyes shut, jabbing your finger and hoping! We’ve put together this list of some of the best travel destinations of 2020 that will give you some ideas about where to take your next trip. Hopefully, these vacation excursions will inspire you and make that informed choice!
If you’re after long days at the beach and heavenly sun, Greece is ideal. If it is an ancient culture visit: Crete, Santorini, Athens and the Parthenon. Want a more laid back vibe? Try sultry Mykonos. The culture of Greece is something that will keep you coming back for more and more. Besides the historical aspect of Athens, there are many other enjoyable activities. The booming nightlife, shopping, and world cuisine are unmatched. The city comes alive at night, and the narrow city streets and large plazas offer an electric atmosphere.
Italy swells with tourists and why not with so much culture, history, excitement, and flair in food, fashion, shopping, and entertainment. May is where you’ll find the canny travelers, as the temperature is perfect for sightseeing, with the temperature at a balmy 25°C (77°F). Want rustic charm? Head into Tuscany for tranquil cellar door pit stops, Visit Florence for the annual Festa Del Grillo in Cascine Park or snack on in-season fava beans, tomatoes, and strawberries at a Monti street café in Rome.

Peru is one of the must-visit destinations of 2020. The ancient ruins of Machu Picchu are a significant attraction along with hikes up the iconic Inca Trail through the Andes. For something extraordinary, check out the Qoyllur Rit’I, a massive indigenous pilgrimage to the peak of Mt Ausangate, near Cusco. Thousands of locals attempt the climb, some carrying blocks of ice down on their backs, and holy water for the crops. Incredible Peruvian food, hospitality, and scenic wonders abound in this ancient, wondrous country.
Malaysia in Southeast Asia is an island of renown. The food culture is like nothing you have ever experienced. It all seems to culminate in the city of Penang’s many markets and restaurants. If you’re a food lover, this is the place to go. Malaysia is a hotbed of spices and cuisine from many different regions, including India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Other activities in Malaysia include exploring the cultural museums and architecture of the island. Small towns, beach resorts on the island offer relaxation, while hikers can enjoy the many national forests and parks.

Bali has always been a top travel destination due to its beauty. But there are still hidden gems away from the main tourist spots that offer seclusion with a peaceful atmosphere. One such place is the island of Nusa Lembongan, off the southeast coast of Bali in the Nusa Penida district. Accessible by boat only, the island has a feel to it like few in South East Asia. Nusa Lembongan is the perfect small island to relax and enjoy the beach. Many mangrove areas surround the eastern end of the island, and it’s also a great dive destination.
7) AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
Auckland is a coastal city in New Zealand known for its spectacular views and beautiful beaches and islands. It’s also a tremendous northern hub for exploring other areas of New Zealand. The nearby Mount Eden (or Maungawhau) is a volcanic mountain you can hike and explore. It offers a fantastic viewpoint of the coastline.
Auckland has many stunning beaches for day trips and surfing just minutes away. They range from white sand beaches to black volcanic sand beaches. With the many hiking trails, viewpoints, beaches, and cultural sites, Auckland has many activities to keep you busy.
8) KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa is one of the hottest travel destinations for 2020. The most popular spot happens to be Kruger National Park and the safari opportunities it provides. The park covers an astonishing 20,000-kilometer expanse of habitat that includes brush plains, mountains, grasslands, and forests. Kruger National Park is home to hundreds of different species of safari animals that include Elephants, Zebra, Lions, Cheetahs, and Rhinos. Guests of the park are usually driven around on open-air vehicles to observe wildlife in their natural habitat up close. It is the vacation of a lifetime.
