DR. BALJIT PAWA – CROSSING ALL OBSTACLES THROUGH CONFIDENCE AND SOLIDARITY

Dr. Baljit Pawa’s journey has been shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a deep sense of purpose. Trained as a pharmacist and later as an integrative physician, she gained a unique perspective on medicine, from dispensing medication to prescribing it, and came to recognize the vital importance of stress and diet and their effects on the body. “Early in my career,” she recalls, “I recognized a need: many women were suffering from hormonal and midlife health issues, yet their concerns were often minimized or misunderstood, or worse, misdiagnosed.”

Megha Goyal is qualified to practice law in Canada, India, and the United Kingdom. After gaining experience in the UK and at a large national law firm in downtown Vancouver, she started her own firm specializing in real estate and corporate law. The idea behind starting Red Oak Law was simple — to provide accessible, client-focused legal services that felt more approachable and affordable than larger firms.

MANPREET DHALIWAL – REAPING THE REWARDS OF HANDS-ON INTUITION

Manpreet’s path into winemaking wasn’t a traditional one. She pursued a career in nursing while staying involved with her family’s winery, helping manage the tasting room during their busy season. “In 2022, during a bumper crop in the Okanagan, I stayed on beyond the busy season and stepped into the cellar to help during harvest,” she recalls. “What I expected to be a temporary break from nursing became a turning point. I loved the hands-on, intuitive, and rewarding process. In 2023, I stepped into a leadership role at our family winery. As a South Asian woman in the industry, I’m proud to be building on my family’s foundation while shaping a path that feels distinctly my own.”

DR. SHAHANA ALIBHAI: TEACHING HEALING THROUGH SELF-DISCOVERY

Dr. Shahana Alibhai is family physician, a keynote speaker, a National Accreditor for the College of Canadian Family Physicians, and has served as a mentor in the UBC Faculty of Medicine Residency Training Program. She has been guiding patients through illness, worry, and uncertainty for many years. In the consulting room, she offers steady hands to care for her patients.

Sanjay Mehra, Clinical Director & Consultant Transplant Surgeon at the Department of Transplant Surgery, Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust, UK, was born in Amritsar, Punjab, India and was raised in an education-focused family that encouraged him to pursue a professional career. Parental guidance and motivation from his elder brother, Dr. Rajan Mehra helped him choose a medical path.
