SHANNON MANN – CARVING A DISTINCT PATH

BY J.M. LEE

Shannon’s journey has been shaped by passion, resilience, and reinvention. She began her career in business and marketing. Still, her creative side led her to the beauty industry, where she founded Pink Orchid Studio (POS) in 2008. Over time, POS grew into a globally recognized brand, winning multiple awards for excellence in artistry and business. As Shannon evolved personally and professionally, she realized that her branding, marketing, and relationship-building skills could extend beyond beauty.

It opened a new chapter. One of BC’s top real estate teams recruited her for her extensive network, reach, and marketing skills. Shannon has a highly engaged local following with whom she shares her daily routine, work, and family life. In addition to my success in the beauty world, I decided to further my education at UBC to pursue a career in real estate, where the stakes and remuneration are much higher. Now I am helping clients with sale and purchase of their most valuable assets. I blended my business acumen, marketing skills, and professionalism with my passion for people. It was a bold move, but I trusted my ability to adapt and succeed.”

Today, as a top BC Realtor, keynote speaker, and mentor, she continues to build meaningful connections and inspire others to make bold career shifts.

“Adaptability is essential to success. Many women hesitate to take on leadership roles. Confidence isn’t something you wait for—it’s something you build by taking action. I draw inspiration from women like Mindy Kaling, Monika Deol, and Lilly Singh, who have created their paths rather than conforming to societal expectations.”

Taking risks has been pivotal in her story. Leaving the beauty industry for real estate, a male-dominated, highly competitive field. The fear of the unknown was real, but she quickly learned that branding, marketing, and relationship-building were just as crucial. “Bet on yourself—you’ll figure it out,” she says with a smile.

“As a mentor, I look for passion, resilience, and a willingness to learn before committing to a mentorship relationship. I invest in women ready to take action, grow, and create real change in their lives.”

Her confidence has evolved through experience and perseverance. Each challenge—whether launching a business, stepping into public speaking, or breaking into new industries—has made her stronger. “Surrounding myself with like-minded, strong women has reinforced my belief in my potential and encouraged me to keep going, no matter the obstacles.”

She advises women to “Advocate for yourself, whether negotiating salaries, taking on leadership roles, or owning one’s worth, one must be one’s strongest advocate. Courage, resilience, and strategic networking are crucial. Being in the right rooms with the right people opens new opportunities.”

Breaking barriers hasn’t been easy. In real estate, leadership is still predominantly male. “I’ve faced resistance, but excellence is the best response,” she asserts. “When you consistently deliver results, demonstrate knowledge, and confidently lead people regardless of gender, you create your seat at the table, rather than waiting for one.”

Balancing work and life isn’t about perfection but priorities, Shannon agrees.

“Sometimes my career demands more of me, and other times my family needs more attention. Be present in the moment, whether closing a deal, mentoring a client, or spending time with family. Pinder, my husband, and our sons, Chandan (19) and Jiorne (11), are my loyal support system. My extended family and friends play a huge role in my success, measured by relationships and fulfillment, not just professional achievements.”

Her message to the next generation of women is crystal clear: “Don’t wait for permission—go for it. Too many women overthink or feel they must be 100% ready before leaping. Confidence comes through action. Invest in your brand, your network, and your growth. Most importantly, we should support other women—we rise higher when we lift each other.”

Shannon believes inclusion is more than just representation; it’s about creating opportunities, breaking barriers, and amplifying diverse voices at leadership tables. “As women, especially women of color, we need to be seen, heard, and valued—not just for diversity’s sake, but for our unique perspectives and expertise. True inclusion happens when we challenge stereotypes, break glass ceilings, and mentor the next generation so they don’t face the same struggles we did. It’s not just about getting a seat at the table but about reshaping it entirely.”

Shannon’s journey—from beauty entrepreneur to real estate leader—has been one of reinvention, resilience, and relentless confidence. “I’ve learned that success is not about following a set path but creating your own. Through mentorship, leadership, and advocacy, I hope to continue inspiring women to carve their power, take risks, and achieve their desired success.”
