The 3rd annual, award-winning Indie Meme Film Festival is scheduled April 19-22, 2018 at Regal Arbor, Great Hills.

Austin, TX  — The 3rd annual, award-winning Indie Meme Film Festival is scheduled April 19-22, 2018 at Regal Arbor, Great Hills. The line-up consists of 10 feature-length films, 3 of which will have their US Premiere at this year’s festival. Additionally, IMFF will have 8 local, international, and US-based filmmakers in attendance.

Kicking off  IMFF 2018 on Thursday, April 19  with YOUTH INITIATIVE – a NEW addition to the festival to provide a platform to the young filmmakers followed by film BHASMASUR, the story of a 10-year-old boy and his journey with his debt-ridden father, for badge holders and Indie Meme members.  Friday, April 20 will be the official Opening night with red carpet and the US Premiere of TURUP (CHECKMATE), a unique film made by a collective, followed by the opening night party.

Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 showcase festival’s curated selection of cinema from South Asia including the US Premieres of BARLEY FIELDS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN, a film about a teenage girl who must choose between supporting her family after her father’s political imprisonment or joining a group of oppressed nuns on their journey to freedom, and LOCK & KEY, a PUNJABI documentary about four recovering addicts at a rehabilitation center in Punjab. This year there are 4 regional Indian languages at IMFF from India including ANGAMALY DIARIES, the critically acclaimed MALAYALAM film and DHH, the GUJARATI kids film. IMFF will also present the Texas Premiere of RIBBON, where a young couple is overwhelmed with the birth of a baby girl and the challenges of parenting. Documentary ABU is the story of filmmaker Arshad Khan’s life and the challenges of growing up a gay man in a close-knit Muslim family in Pakistan. The CLOSING NIGHT film CHUMBAK is a MARATHI movie about a Mumbai based teenage scammer (and a friend) who could not shake off one of his victims, and ends up on a journey across Maharashtra with the victim, who is mentally challenged. Following the closing film, the festival will present the Audience Choice Award Announcement and closing night party.
