(April 2, 2024) Surrey, BC – Celebrating 20 years highlighting creatives from the South Asian diaspora, VIBC is back with their 7th annual flagship event, 5X Fest. June 13th – 16, 2024 will set the stage for some of today’s most exciting emerging names in South Asian music & art.
This multi-day, multi-venue festival lineup will include signature events like the 5X Blockparty and the 5X Art Party, along with some unique new additions you can’t help but tell your friends about. This year is extra special, as we celebrate 20 years of VIBC! Come together and help mark this momentous occasion. Join us as we honour all that’s happened and all that’s left to come!
For over 2 decades, the VIBC Society has evolved with the South Asian youth of the diaspora, with a legacy of highlighting and celebrating their pursuits in creative industries. Adapting with time and technology, 5X Fest acts as a showcase of these up and coming, breakout artists. Their stage often hosts artists who go on to the global stage and international festivals. VIBC has been an advocate, lobbying for access, opportunity and recognition for these hybrid youth, while also acting as a steward for their unique cultural identity in a globalized world.
Alongside their artistic initiatives, the organization is introducing a new event this year to honour the roots of wellness practices with the community. Self-Care Sunday with 5X is a half day explorative event of pure wellness vibes, including mindful practices such as breathwork, meditation, journaling, and movement; followed by a fireside chat hosted by Summan Kandola with Gurnaz Sandhu, Joty Kay, and Priya Sidhu, three of the world’s top South Asian digital influencers. They’ll spill the tea on how they’ve built a global following while staying real & authentic.
The annually sold-out 5X Art Party, returns with a new curator in Ritesh Matlani, creative director and owner of May 18 Florals. This iconic event is the ultimate place to meet emerging artists, and experience music, art, and connection.
And the zenith of the festival, the free 5X Blockparty showcases Surrey’s finest, including a concert, an array of food vendors, art installations, and a vendor village of some of the coolest local brands. The flagship music festival is happening on June 15 at the Surrey Civic Plaza (13450 104 Avenue Surrey, BC V3T 1V8) from 2 – 9pm. For those looking for an elevated experience, VIP tickets will allow exclusive access to our gated VIP section including free drinks, snacks, games, gifts, the best view in the house and a chance to meet and mingle with some of your favourite South Asian artists and influencers.
Outside of the official festival lineup, will be a new invite-only industry event, 5X Access. With so many demonstrated successes of South Asian music developing in our own backyard, 5X Fest is the ideal venue to cultivate an opportunity for members of the global music industry to connect and discover South Asian talents.
