RICHMOND, BC – Committed to giving back to the community, the Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club’s recent charity concert raised close to $50,000 for the Yurkovich Family Pavilion, the new acute care tower at Richmond Hospital. This is the club’s 15th charity concert in support of health care in Richmond.

“Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club is proud to be a long-time supporter of Richmond Hospital Foundation,” shares Anita Ip, President at Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club. “Over the years, we have seen the significant impact high quality health care has had on friends, neighbours, and loved ones. And it brings us great pride to know we are positively contributing to that and the health of our community.”

The sold-out Johnny, Peter & May Reunion Charity Concert, which was held on August 18 at River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, featured legendary Hong Kong Cantopop singers Johnny Yip and Peter Chan and renowned musician Tony Arevalo Jr. Also joining them on stage was May Ho, a charter member of the Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club and long-time supporter of Richmond Hospital Foundation. In addition to ticket sales, the Club also raised funds by encouraging donations during the concert.

The Yurkovich Family Pavilion will address the growing needs of the Richmond community with extensive health care services to accommodate the growing population. This new nine-floor acute care tower will include a new emergency department, state-of-the-art surgical centre with 11 operating rooms, single occupancy patient rooms, and a fully equipped medical imaging centre.

“Since 2007, the Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club has shown remarkable dedication to enhancing health care in Richmond,” shares Spencer Gall, Richmond Hospital Foundation Chief  Philanthropy Officer. “This wonderful tradition and generous donation will help us launch a new era of health care benefitting all those who live, work, and visit Richmond.”
