Vaisakhi is a festival that has been celebrated since ancient times. On the auspicious day of Vaisakhi in 1699, Sahib E Kamaal Kalgidhar Patshah Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj established the Khalsa Panth. From then on, this festival became of utmost importance to the Sikhs. From that day onwards, for Sikhs, this day became a Khalsa Sirjana Diwas.
The fight of Sikhs against tyranny started in the era of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, and Guru Nanak Dev Ji very clearly said
Jau Tau Prem Khelan Ka Chau
Sir Dhar Tali Gali Meri Aau
It Marag Pair Dharijay
Sir Deejai Kaan Na Keejay
All ten Sikh Gurus passed this message to the Sikh congregation during the tenure of their Guruship. This concept reached the pinnacle in front of the whole world under the aegis of Dashmesh Pita Sahib Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj in the form of the institution of Khalsa to fight against the injustices of the atrocious and unjust powers on the day of Vaisakhi.
Khalsa is an Arabic word that means pure and immaculate. Khalsa Panth, established and embellished by the tenth master, is a valorous army of the eternal and the highest authority Waheguru. The divine virtues are reflected in the Khalsa.

Khalsa is an army of saint soldiers whose prime duty is to fight injustice and unjust power. Khalsa is free of any kind of political bondage. Khalsa’s only veneration is Waheguru; Khalsa only bows in front of Waheguru. Khalsa is against the dictatorial powers doing injustice and atrocities towards meek and poor people. The voice of veracity, justice, and righteousness is the voice of Khalsa. It does not accept any kind of impurity and adultery as Khalsa is itself pure and strives towards higher values and morals in life.
The soul of Khalsa is always connected with higher, sublime, and ultimate divinity. The Benevolent Satguru had imparted in the form of 5 Kakaars. The discipline of 5 Banis helps Khalsa be on the path of divinity. Khalsa leads a life of higher moral values and purity. Khalsa does not believe in mere rituals and emphasizes meaningful practices. Khalsa possesses weapons, but the usage of weapons by Khalsa is only for righteous and defensive purposes. Khalsa’s sword gives protection to the meek and fights against oppression.
Khalsa possesses both Bani and Bana, and Bana gives a unique identity to the Khalsa. The world gets mesmerized by gazing upon the unique facade of Khalsa. Still, the world reaches a euphoric state of bliss after getting a glimpse of the inner world of the Khalsa, which is enriched with divine virtues.
On the day of Vaisakhi in 1699, the Dashmesh pita gave us the precious gift of the concept of purity and taught us a pious way of life. Guru Sahib transformed a Sikh into a pure and immaculate Saint Soldier who has annihilated his vices and has merged into the divine.
Guru Sahib imparted veracity and purity to the Khalsa. Khalsa, created under the aegis and the light of Dashmesh Pita, has a very high and strong moral character. Humbleness, truthfulness, enlightenment, valor, justice, sacrifice, service, fraternity are the attributes of Khalsa. To serve humanity is the main objective of the life of Khalsa.
Praising the Khalsa Guru Sahib has said,
“Khalsa Maero Roop Hai Khhaas,
Khalsa Mehi Ho Karo Nivaas.”
Today’s society needs Guru Sahib’s Khalsa. Today, the world is tarnished with vices. Khalsa, the pure ones who have imbibed the character imparted by Dashmesh Pita, can save the world from its ugliness. We should all attain the virtues Guru Sahib has imparted to the Khalsa Panth to make this world peaceful. Suppose every human attains the character of Khalsa, our blemished society can be healed, and this world can turn into heaven. Such is a great and benevolent benefaction of our tenth master, our Dashmesh Pita Sahib Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
