Two new faces are set to join the Langley Thunder for the upcoming Western Lacrosse Association season.
The Senior A Thunder have acquired Aidan Baker and Jon Phillips from the Nanaimo Timbermen in exchange for Matt Abbott and future considerations.
“We are excited to welcome Jon and Aidan to our organization. Jon is a proven goal scorer while Aidan’s defensive tenacity and ability to play in transition will help us push towards our goals this season. Both should make an immediate impact on the floor for us this summer,” said general manager Rob Buchan.
Phillips, a right-handed forward from Delta, has 72 goals and 165 in 50 career WLA games, all with Nanaimo over the past three seasons. He has spent time in the National Lacrosse League with the Las Vegas Desert Dogs and the Colorado Mammoth.
Baker has spent parts of the past two seasons with the Timbermen in a transition role. He is currently a member of the Grizzlies in the Arena Lacrosse League and has four goals and nine points in nine games this season. Baker – who is from North Vancouver — was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2024.
Langley kicks off the 2025 WLA season on May 21 when they host the Burnaby Lakers at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:30pm.
