We kick off the festival season with a Diwali Diya Painting and Art Workshop at the Roundhouse Community Center in Vancouver on October 23. This workshop is led by renowned local artist Jag Nagra. Our giant community Rangoli displays will also be open for the public to participate in. The event runs from 2:00 – 4:30 pm and admission is free. We will be following Provincial Health Guidelines and masks are required for indoor spaces. There will also be a vaccine passport check to enter the event space.
On October 24, tune in to our YouTube channel at 2:00 pm for Diwali Downtown Surrey: Digital Showcase. This event ft. music and dance performances by Shaan E Punjab, Spirit of Dance, Spandan Arts, Nishant Sharma, Elaina Collis and other local artists.
We are excited to collaborate with Vancouver Public Library for a virtual story hour with Canadian author Anjali Joshi. Diwali Stories with VPL on October 28 (2:00 pm) will ft. an author presentation of Ganesh and the Little Mouse.
Our signature presentation Diwali Downtown Vancouver: Digital Showcase will stream on our YouTube channel on November 2 at 6:00 pm! This presentation is curated for Diwali and will ft. music and dance performances by UBC Junoon, SFU Befikre, 604 Bhangra, Ruploops, SFU Bhangra and Flare Dance Co.
We wrap up the festivities with Diwali @ Trout Lake Community Center on November 7. This is a lunch time event and ft. dance performances by local artists. Tickets are available for pruchase through Trout Lake Community Center.
