Inner Engineering: A Proven Method to Achieve Inner Calm and Happiness
Prasad Sristi Came to Canada in 1998 from India and went to the University of Victoria to complete his Master’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He then moved to Toronto and completed his Masters in Business Administration. In 2016, he moved to Vancouver where he currently resides. He is currently the Analytics Business Unit Vice-President of a U.S.- based software services company. Despite his many accomplishments, he believed something was missing in his life: a real sense of inner calm and peace.
“I was into meditation for a long time; it has been a long pursuit for me, Prasad explains. “However, I began to wonder, what has it done for me? Has it transformed me? Has it positively impacted my life?”
These questions led Prasad on a search for self-discovery, which ultimately resulted in his discovering the work of the Yogi, Sadhguru. Sadhguru is the founder of Inner Engineering. He is also an advisor to the UN and one of India’s 50 most influential people, and his teachings draw in thousands who say their lives have been transformed by the experience. He has spoken at many prestigious global conferences such as World Peace Summit at the United Nations and the World Economic Forum. Prasad is one of the volunteers that helps to support the Inner Engineering program in Vancouver.
“We have done a lot of outer engineering for the last one-hundred years” Prasad explains. “We have made gadgets and machines that make our lives more comfortable. But we haven’t done much, for our interior comfort, our internal state of joy and happiness. Inner Engineering is a program that looks at one’s mind, body, emotions, and energy, and enables us to establish a deeper state of happiness that comes from within. So regardless of what is happening in the outside world, inner engineering allows one be grounded and coming from a comfortable space that allows us to better deal with the external world.”
At the core of the Inner Engineering program is Kriya, a 21-minute meditation technique that once learned, can be practiced in the comforts of one’s home. The program is typically delivered over four days in-person, or via two days’ worth of online programs and two days in-person. “It is a concrete way of meditating, using a specific method of breathing,” Prasad advises, “Kriya is a powerful and purifying energy technique that uses the breath, and makes you meditative.” Kriya does not require any physical fitness or previous knowledge of yoga and is easy to integrate into any lifestyle.
“It’s been quite a transformation in my life, Prasad notes. “I travel a lot; I have conference calls across various time zones. When I didn’t sleep due to work, my productivity suffered. Thanks to Inner Engineering, the quality of my sleep has improved significantly. If I don’t sleep as much as I should, I will still be productive, and my state of mind will remain calm and centered. My personal productivity has also increased significantly. I am much better able to juggle, between work, my personal life – the ability to switch smoothly has gone up considerably.” Prasad reports being much calmer in both his personal and professional life and thus happier.
