SURREY, BC – On Saturday, November 29th, Crown Palace Banquet Hall on 12025 Nordel Way, in Surrey hosted EmpowerHer Summit: InvestHer Edition supported by the Nisa Foundation and funded by the BC Government. Speakers Dalia Al Ahmad, Tanweer Ebrahim and Sumaiya Tufail held a panel to share their journeys of entrepreneurship, resilience, and innovation, offering practical insights on how to grow and sustain your business.

Parliamentary Secretary for Anti-Racism and Mental Health, Amna Shah, addressed summit attendees by highlighting the provincial government’s continued investments in post-secondary education, training, and economic growth. Shah, the MLA for Surrey City Centre who grew up in Surrey, also commended the organization and participants for championing women in business and fostering a safe, supportive space to ask questions and share their entrepreneurial ideas. EmpowerHer Summit, which is taking place in multiple cities across Canada, hosted by the Nisa Foundation is a space created for women to network, share stories, and build leadership skills with the support of other women.
Nisa Foundation started as a helpline in 2014 and became a registered charity in 2019, built by a group of Muslim women whose personal experiences shaped the charity.
Nisa Foundation provides supports through four main programs: homes, learning, helpline, and mental health. Nisa Homes provides culturally sensitive transitional housing and support for immigrant, refugee, and Muslim women experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, or other crises. They offer a safe, empowering home environment where women can heal, rebuild their lives, and transition toward independence. Nisa Helpline is a free, confidential, 16-hour support line for Muslim women and girls across North America, offering peer counselling, mental health support, referrals, and guidance in multiple languages.
