Minister Hajdu Provides Approximately $150,000 Funding for the Surrey Steps Up Program

Today, MP Randeep Sarai, Member of Parliament for Surrey Centre, on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, announced that School District No. 36 has been approved for a Skills Link project of approximately $150,000 for their Surrey Steps Up program.

Surrey, BC – Today, MP Randeep Sarai, Member of Parliament for Surrey Centre, on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, announced that School District No. 36 has been approved for a Skills Link project of approximately $150,000 for their Surrey Steps Up program.

The announcement was made today during a celebration with the 14 youths who completed the Surrey Steps Up program.

The youth were enrolled through Surrey’s alternative school system and received 3 weeks of group-based employability skills intervention followed by 6 weeks of work experience.

This Skills Link project helps Surrey School District assist at-risk youth to overcome multiple barriers to employment and to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to make a successful transition to the labour market.
