The university is highest yoga accredited university in India. S-VYASA is a Centre of Advanced Research (CAR) in Yoga and Neurophysiology accredited by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
S-VYASA is also supported by one-of-its-kind Yoga Therapy Research health Home with a 250-bed inpatient treatment facility called Arogyadhama run by VYASA. The major focus of the centre is to prevent and treat modern NCDs, long-term rehabilitation and to promote Positive Health.
Offering well-designed Yoga Courses in S-VYASA currently has 114 PhDs, 51 MScs enrolled and enrollment of 410 students in various branches. It has so far produced 25 PhDs and 21 MDs from the University.

S-VYASA has standardized such Advanced Yoga techniques as CM (Cyclic Meditation), PET (Pranic Energisation Technique), MSRT (Mind Sound Resonance Technique), MEMT (Mastering the Emotions Technique), MIRT (Mind Imagery Technique), VISAK (Vijnana Sadhana Kausala) and ANAMS (Anandamrita Sincana).
The University publishes International Journal of Yoga (IJOY), PubMed listed free access journal. It is hoped make the journal a platform to bring together all good experimental researches on Yoga! IJOY-PPP is the other dimension of IJOY, which is meant essentially to unearth the hidden dimensions of our Shastras, in the three areas of Philosophy, Para-psychology and Psychology.
Dr Nagendra, popularly addressed as Guruji all around the world, received his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Bangalore University and Doctor of Philosophy from Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore in 1968. After a year of postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia in 1969 moved to NASA Marshall Space Centre. After few years at Harvard University Imperial College of Sciences and Technology, London joined Vivekananda Kendra, a service mission, as honorary director of training centre. He joined Vivekananda Kendra and established Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation.
Dr Nagendra has received many awards and honors. He was recognised by the Government of India with Padamshri- the highest civilian honour of India.
Dr Nagendra has devoted many years in developing integrative Health and is s heading multiple committees within the government of India, to support excellence and quality in Yoga teaching, research and as therapy. He is recognised as Yoga Guru of Rt Hon Narendra Modi Prime Minister of India . He is also the Man behind initiating International Day of Yoga to make Yoga a global practice.
He has published more than 200 research papers and 35 books in the field of Yoga and its applications in Health and Disease.
He is the President of Indian Yoga Association www.yogaiya.in/about/ .
Dr Nagendra is also the founder of VYASA, which has become a worldwide movement in Health, Education and Research, which includes current research projects with Harvard University and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston through VYASA in the field of Cancer
He is the Man behind initiating International Day of Yoga (IDY) to make Yoga a global practice, and Chair its Expert Commtt Task Force. IDY continues to promote and build international day of Yoga as the global program for health, harmony and happiness.
Two other luminaries Dr Manjunath, the Research head and Dr Dayanand, the Finance head of SVYASA, are accompanying Dr Nagendra.
The current visit is hosted by Swami Satya Prakash ji and Preeti Misra in collaboration with Vyasa Canada.
Canada India Network Society is working to engage local academics, medical and other health practioners in various sessions to explore enhanced role of Yoga in integrative medicine and to build further capacity in research and accreditation standards in British Columbia.
