LEADING THROUGH PURPOSE: JUGGY SIHOTA’S TRAILBLAZING JOURNEY IN COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

By WINNIE JNAG-WONG

As the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s incoming Chair, Juggy is passionate about leading in social capitalism. She is an accomplished multidisciplinary executive with a well-established reputation for building and scaling new businesses and high-performing teams.

In healthcare, leaders with a strong background in their field and a genuine commitment to community engagement are invaluable. Juggy Sihota, the Chief Growth Officer of TELUS Health, is an inspiring example of this rare combination. She has emerged as a trailblazer in the Canadian and global healthcare technology industry with her exceptional background and outstanding community leadership.

A purpose-driven leader, Juggy turned her passion for healthcare into a fulfilling and rewarding career. This is not the first time Drishti Magazine profiles Juggy. In 2021, Gary Thandi reported on Juggy’s trajectory from telecom executive to healthcare leader. She helped launch and scale TELUS Health and led the creation and expansion of the organization’s Consumer Health business. As Vice-president of Consumer Health, Juggy was the leader behind innovative healthcare products and services that address many of the pressing health and well-being needs of individuals and families, including Canada’s fastest growing and highest customer-rated virtual care service, TELUS Health MyCare, personal emergency response service TELUS LivingWell Companion for vulnerable seniors; and a free to download the mobile app to see a professional veterinarian online, TELUS Health MyPet.

Today, Juggy leads the global growth strategy for TELUS Health. Under her leadership, the Chief Growth Office is focused on strengthening and scaling TELUS Health as a global-leading total health and well-being organization. Her team is relentlessly focused on improving access to healthcare while driving overall growth across the global markets the organization serves.

“I want to have the most significant positive impact on society by leveraging all of my strengths and platforms and doing this through the lens of intersectionality. My leadership influence deliberately spans health, business, racial/social justice, gender equality, and globalization. I balance my professional and personal time with the causes that matter the most to me.”

Beyond her professional achievements, Juggy is also known for her remarkable dedication to community leadership. One notable example of community engagement is her involvement with the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade (GVBOT). Juggy officially joined the GVBOT Board of Directors in 2020, and this fall, she will be announced as its incoming Board Chair.

Through her involvement with the GVBOT, Juggy has contributed to the growth and development of Greater Vancouver and British Columbia’s business community while addressing critical social issues. While serving on the GVBOT’s Women’s Leadership Council and other groups, she has strongly advocated diversity and inclusion, championing initiatives that promote equality and create a more inclusive business environment. Last year, Juggy joined a GVBOT-hosted panel in a discussion about the impact of mental health on our communities. The event helped attendees build knowledge of mental well-being, understand why self-awareness is so critical, and explore the impact of stigma in the workplace.

In addition to her support of the GVBOT, Juggy is currently the Chair for the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation Board, a director for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, a director for the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation Board, a director for the Vancouver International Airport Authority (YVR).

Juggy’s contributions to the healthcare industry and the community serve as an inspiration to aspiring leaders. Her dedication to improving healthcare outcomes and driving positive change in the community is a testament to her remarkable leadership and unwavering commitment. Juggy’s legacy will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact as she continues to make a difference in the healthcare landscape and local community.

Juggy’s personal life goal is a noble one that can inspire people.
