RICHMOND, BC – In line with their mission to spread goodness and love, Koinonia Evangelical Church has donated over $25,000 to support the health care needs of families and newborns in Richmond by funding the purchase of a new fetal monitor.

Koinonia Evangelical Church was founded in 2006 and began with five families gathering in a living room. Guided by their belief in families uplifting families through mutual care and community outreach, Koinonia Evangelical Church has now grown into a congregation of more than 800 people.

For years, they have been supporters for Richmond health care advancement, contributing to multiple areas of need including the Yurkovich Family Pavilion, new acute care tower at Richmond Hospital. Their latest donation, made possible by the collective generosity of their community through the Reaching Out Campaign, continues to demonstrate their spirit of service and compassion.

“At Koinonia, we strongly believe in caring for the people through love and service,” shares Haines Lee, Deacon at Koinonia Evangelical Church. “Supporting health care enriches the lives of everyone in the community and helps provide essential care, especially to those facing challenging situations. It also brings joy to those celebrating milestones such as bringing new life into the world. By directing this donation towards families, new parents, and their precious newborns, we can help them ensure a healthy start.”

“We are so grateful for Koinonia Evangelical Church’s longstanding philanthropic support and devotion towards community care,” says Spencer Gall, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Richmond Hospital Foundation. “Their donation will strengthen care for families and newborns in Richmond, including funding a new fetal monitor crucial for ensuring safe, supported births. Providing new parents with the reassurance that they are receiving the most advanced and attentive care possible from the very start, will contribute to a comforting care experience during a time filled with anticipation, anxiety, and emotion.”
