#BalconyOrchestraSAMAJAM… live from your balcony!

SAMAJAM will present its new show #BalconyOrchestraSAMAJAM, a 200% participative and safe musical experience adapted to this period linked to the COVID-19.

MONTREAL, May 6, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ – May 8, SAMAJAM will present its new show #BalconyOrchestraSAMAJAM, a 200% participative and safe musical experience adapted to this period linked to the COVID-19. The Quebec company is proud to have created this show in response to a challenge initiated by Recreologist Sandra Blair and Executive Director Jason ReinBlatt of the Jardin des Sources, a Groupe Sélection retirement complex located in Sainte-Thérèse, in the Laurentians.

The goal was to design a new musical show that would be 200% participatory as well as 200% safe.

Our creators, international artists currently in Quebec, technicians and other SAMAJAM collaborators have enthusiastically mobilized to take up this stimulating challenge, by adapting our unique musical, percussive and totally participative approach for the audience, which makes our reputation here and internationally, for over 25 years already!

540 residents will actively participate in this grand premiere. Each unit will receive in advance a SAMAJAM Musical Bag, containing percussion instruments, so that each floor can create a different segment of a percussion orchestra. Thus, live from their balconies, everyone will become a musician and participate in the collective performance #BalconyOrchestraSAMAJAM.

Back home, two SAMAJAM artists will host the show, Harvey Bien-Aimé, who has participated in SAMAJAM shows internationally, and on Canadian tours with SAMAJAM Rythmo2!, as well as Mathieu Gélinas, who for four years has been touring Asia as assistant stage director and host of the SAMAJAM Kids & Family Participatory Music Show, one of the biggest hits for youth audiences in China, with nearly 1,200 performances offered, and 12 countries under licensed!

It’s amazing to present this new show at home, after all these years to travel the world with SAMAJAM “, underlines with emotion Mathieu Gélinas. “Everyone be ready on your balconies: We are going to move, sing, dance …
and create all together, a huge collective percussion orchestra!
 “

Virginie Hamel, Executive Director of SAMAJAM Canada, adds: “With the #BalconyOrchestra show, SAMAJAM wishes to use its unique expertise to actively contribute to the remobilization of Quebec, by creating a wave of energy in rhythm and color, thanks the universal language and the collective game of percussions.
