Surrey, B.C. (March 11, 2024) – Even more runners and walkers are expected to pound the pavement this year in the fourth annual “RunSurreyRun”, set to go on the morning of Sunday, September 8th through the streets and neighbourhoods of Surrey City Centre.
Registration is now open at RunSurreyRun.com and be sure to take advantage of early bird pricing with the next price increase set for May 1.
This inclusive event emphasizes fun, physical activity and community and is open to novice and experienced walkers and runners of all ages and levels of endurance. A virtual race will also be held for a fourth year from September 4 to 8 where participants can run or walk their own route at their convenience.
“We doubled the number of participants last year, and hope to double that again this year, aiming for 800 people joining us,” says Gurjinder Bhurji, founder and race director of RunSurreyRun. “With the encouragement and support of our Community Partner RBC, the City of Surrey and other generous sponsors and community volunteers, our vision remains to create Surrey’s signature event to promote health and active living for the benefit of all and showcase our world-class city.”
The run starts at 8:30 A.M. in Holland Park with the main stretches of the course running north on 132 Street and south on University Drive. The fast and scenic course is a 5K loop which is run twice by 10K runners. The route straddles Old Yale Road twice in the middle and is capped at either end by 108 Avenue at the north end, and 97 Avenue in the south.
