Keeping to its name, which means ‘community’, Koinonia Evangelical Church rallied its members in May to give back as part of its annual ‘Reaching Out Generosity Campaign’. Far surpassing its $140,000 goal, a total of $196,000 was raised for different local charities with $30,000 directed to Richmond Hospital Foundation’s Trio of Life campaign and Medical Imaging Centre campaign.

“Generosity is at the heart of everything we do because we believe that giving back to others will help build a stronger, happier and healthier community,” says Fan Chun, Deacon of the Koinonia Evangelical Church. An active supporter of Richmond Hospital Foundation since 2017, the church has previously dedicated funds to the Yurkovich Family Pavilion as well as the Surgical Restart campaign.

“Richmond Hospital plays a vital role in keeping our community healthy, and we are so pleased that Koinonians’ acts of generosity will support both the urgent needs of the hospital, as well as future needs,” continues Chun.

As part of its Trio of Life Campaign, Richmond Hospital Foundation is raising $580,000 to replace aging diagnostic equipment for the cardiology, pulmonary and neurology specialties – a current, crucial need for the hospital. Additionally, in anticipation for the future, Richmond Hospital Foundation is also fundraising for the new Medical Imaging Centre which will provide doctors and staff access to the latest imaging technologies to assess patients.

“Thank you to Koinonia Evangelical Church for their devotion in creating a healthier community by supporting the current and future needs of Richmond’s community of care,” shares Natalie Meixner, President & CEO of Richmond Hospital Foundation. “Their continued generosity will enable improved care in Richmond, which will lead to even more joy in our community.”
