The Dhaliwal Legacy and a Winemaker to Watch

Kismet Estate Winery reflects decades of dedication by the Dhaliwal family. Managing over 600 acres of premium vineyards, they supply award-winning grapes to B.C.’s top wineries, reserving the finest 10% for their own handcrafted wines. Guided by a “quality over quantity” philosophy, Kismet has become a leader in the Okanagan wine scene.

At the heart of Kismet is Winemaker Manpreet Dhaliwal, the only South Asian female winemaker in Canada and a rising star in the industry. At just 27 years old, Manpreet has already earned acclaim for her innovative debut vintages, including the Double Gold-winning 2023 Pinot Grigio and her proprietary Kamal Rosé. As Kismet enters its 12th season with a slate of new releases, Manpreet is shaping an exciting future for B.C.’s wine industry.

“I’m incredibly excited about the new wines we’re releasing this upcoming season, especially a special sparkling wine we’ve been working on. It’s been a labour of love, and I’m thrilled to finally see it come to life. We’re also considering some new single varietal red wines that reflect the diverse terroir of B.C. The next couple vintages show such beautiful complexity and character and I believe will be a game changer for us. I can’t wait to share these wines with our guests and see how they connect with them.” – Manpreet Dhaliwal, Winemaker at Kismet Estate Winery.

Manzil: A Culinary Journey Resuming Spring 2025

Soft-launched earlier this year, Manzil is set to redefine Indian cuisine in the Okanagan when it reopens in Spring 2025. Guided by culinary consultant Tushar Tondvalkar, the restaurant will celebrate untapped regional Indian dishes crafted with locally sourced ingredients and fresh spices directly sourced from India. At Manzil, the focus is on showcasing the diverse and nuanced flavour profiles of Indian cuisine, breaking the misconception that it’s all about heat. Hot spice takes a backseat to bold, balanced flavours that highlight the richness and diversity of India’s culinary heritage.

Guests can look forward to signature shared plates inspired by India’s broad culinary diversity, thoughtfully paired with Kismet’s wines, and innovative cocktails like the Spicy Mango Margarita. Adding to the excitement, Bena Dheensaw—formerly of Vikram Vij’s My Shanti—will bring her expertise to the role of Restaurant Manager, elevating the dining experience even further in 2025.
