Richmond, B.C. –Inspiration and joy abounded as donors, sponsors, and community leaders, helped to raise funds towards innovation and health care in Richmond at the 21st Annual Richmond Hospital Foundation Starlight Gala on Saturday, October 19, 2019.
As the main focus of the Starlight Gala, a new Acute Care Tower for Richmond was generously supported through the “Leadership Challenge” segment of the evening. The night was a celebration of the many generous Acute Care Tower donors who had already stepped forward while inspiring others to join, helping Richmond Hospital Foundation reach an incredible milestone of $43,680,000 towards the ACT NOW campaign, representing 87% of the campaign’s $50 million goal.
“Thanks to the incredible generosity of all of our donors and including those at the Starlight Gala, we are that much closer to our goal of $50 million for the ACT NOW fundraising campaign. We are deeply grateful for the leadership of donors, sponsors and community champions who have rallied together to ensure Richmond gets a new Acute Tower,” said Nelson Kwan, Board Chair, Richmond Hospital Foundation.
The joyful tone for giving that evening was set by Jason and Emily Ko of Viva Pharmaceuticals who inspired others to give with their personal leadership and generous $1 million donation towards the Acute Care Tower.
“Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this event and to all of the donors who have truly made an impact. To give joyfully is to know that you are part of the solution. There is true joy in coming together to build a better and healthier future in Richmond,” said Natalie Meixner, President and CEO, Richmond Hospital Foundation.
Richmond Hospital Foundation
For over 30 years, Richmond Hospital Foundation has raised over $80 million to help fund vital medical equipment, improvements in patient care services and upgraded facilities. Our goal is to inspire joyful giving within our community to build a better and healthier future for Richmond.
ACT NOW Campaign
Richmond Hospital urgently needs a new Acute Care Tower to replace the original hospital tower, which is more than 50 years old, seismically unstable and obsolete with severely deficient infrastructure unable to meet the needs of Richmond’s dramatically growing and aging population. More in-patient beds, larger operating rooms and a “future-ready” design will be just some of the many innovative features in the tower. Richmond Hospital Foundation’s goal with its ACT NOW campaign is to inspire giving to raise at least $50 million in philanthropic commitments to help fund a new Acute Care Tower at Richmond Hospital.
