Driven by passion, purpose, and a relentless desire to make a positive impact, Balneet Toor has spent the past few years navigating a path that has shaped her professional and personal life. From her early days as an HR professional to assuming leadership roles and becoming an entrepreneur, each chapter of her journey embodies a blend of growth, challenges, and lessons that have fueled her commitment to empowering others.
Here’s a glimpse into her story, the experiences that have shaped her, and the vision that inspires her daily life.
“Four years ago, I started my career in HR at HelloFresh and have since taken on a new role as the HR Manager for Western Canada at eCycle Solutions,” Balneet reflects. “Alongside my professional journey, I embarked on entrepreneurship with Neets Treats, where I merged my passion for baking with the joy of sharing delicious, homemade treats.”
Balancing work, life, and her entrepreneurial venture requires setting clear boundaries and staying organized. She prioritizes tasks while making time for family, Neets Treats, and the community. Regularly reassessing her responsibilities aids her in remaining flexible and focused on what matters most.
“My leadership journey flourished when I became the Vice-President of the Smiles Through Seva Foundation, where I merged my professional expertise with my passion for philanthropy. In this role, I have organized and driven initiatives to uplift youth and make a tangible difference in their lives.” Balneet’s work with the foundation has been shaped by a deep belief in giving back to society and fostering a spirit of kindness and generosity.
As a female leader, one of the greatest lessons Balneet learned is the significance of resilience and the capacity to view setbacks as opportunities for growth. “In my career, I’ve faced challenges that tested my patience and determination, but every experience has shaped me into a more decisive leader. I’ve discovered the power of listening, the value of collaboration, and the necessity of creating a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone.”
Developing leadership confidence and discovering her voice has been a journey of growth, learning, and embracing her authentic self. It began with stepping outside her comfort zone, tackling challenges, and learning from successes and failures.
“I learned to trust my instincts and surround myself with supportive people who believed in me,” she shares. “Over time, I realized that being bold and vibrant stems from staying true to my values and using my voice to empower others. Confidence isn’t something that develops overnight; rather, it is built through experience, self-reflection, and a commitment to authenticity.”
Her biggest inspiration has been strong women, especially her mother. She taught her to lead with strength and compassion from a young age. She has consistently supported Balneet’s journey and success, encouraging her to look to the future and follow her heart.
Her mother’s words, ‘There’s always something to look forward to; focus on the positive,’ are her guiding mantra. Whenever Balneet encounters challenges or feels stuck, she reflects on her mom’s wisdom, which helps her stay grounded and focused on moving forward.
“My mom taught me the importance of staying grounded, fearless, and lifting others as you rise,” Balneet reveals one of the noblest virtues of her dear mother that has stayed in her deepest core. “Her guidance has empowered me to believe in myself and understand that authentic leadership lies in empowering others to succeed alongside you.”
As the Punjabi Mutiyaaran Women’s Society Secretary, Balneet has connected with women from diverse backgrounds. “Inclusion is at the heart of progress,” Balneet emphasizes, recognizing and celebrating each individual’s unique experiences, perspectives, and strengths. As we continue to advocate for equality and positive change, it’s crucial to cultivate environments where individuals feel valued, heard, and supported. For me, inclusion is not just a principle but a practice that entails continuous learning, breaking down barriers, and advocating for those who may not always have a voice. When we prioritize inclusion, we unlock the full potential of individuals and communities. My journey has been shaped by experience, resilience, and a sincere desire to help others. These qualities continue to guide me as I strive to make a meaningful impact in my professional and community roles.
“Everyone must possess another crucial thing—a passion for whatever one does. However, we should always hold it in proper perspective, as it can elevate us to new heights. Therefore, uncontrolled passion is simply passion, but controlled passion is genius.”
