Make it back-to-back championships for the Seaquam Seahawks.
In a game featuring seven ties and 15 lead changes, the Seahawks hung on to edge the Brookswood Bobcats 68-67 in the BC School Sports Girls 4A Basketball Provincial Tournament on Saturday night at Langley Events Centre.
The game was played on the Arena Bowl Court as the championships celebrated their 75th edition.
Seaquam’s biggest lead of the night was late in the fourth quarter as they were ahead by six before the Bobcats cut the deficit down to one before ultimately falling short at the buzzer.
It marks the second straight year the Delta school has captured the championship while Brookswood (Township of Langley) was also a defending provincial champ having won the 3A Tournament in 2024 before moving up a tier to the 4A level.
Camryn Tait scored a team-high 21 points to go along with her 11 rebounds – and was named both Championship Player of the Game and Most Valuable Player – while Syra Toor added 20 points with Mackenzie Henderson (13) and Callie Best (12) also reaching double figures for Seaquam.
Brookswood’s Jordyn Nohr led her team with 28 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Ashley Vande Ven had 21 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots, earning the Most Outstanding Defensive Player award.
In the third-place game, it was the Argyle Pipers (North Vancouver) winning 76-63 over the Riverside Rapids (Port Coquitlam).
