BC Provincial Wrestling team who competed over the weekend in Calgary at the 2025 Jurassic Classic and Dino Cup. There was an individual tournament the first day, and a team tournament the second day.
The team’s head coaches were Gurjot Kooner & Sukhan Chahal. Along with assistant coach, Jess Tang and physiotherapist, Vic Sanghera of River District Physio.
There were athletes from all across Canada competing, including athletes from: BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Newfoundland, Yukon Territory and Northwest Territories.
BC Provincial Wrestling team took 24 wrestlers and came back with 21 medals, including 11 Gold, 3 Silver and 7 Bronze Medals.
As mentioned before, there were 24 athletes on our BC provincial team, 12 boys and 12 girls. Out of the 12 Girls, 7 of them were Punjabi! Out of the 12 Boys, 8 of them were Punjabi!
In total, there were 15 Punjabi athletes on the provincial team out of the 24. This is the first time these many Punjabis are on BC Provincial Wrestling team.
10 different clubs were being represented on the provincial team, 6 of them are Punjabi based wrestling clubs from the Lower Mainland.

For the team results, both the Men’s and Women’s from BC were undefeated. Our team faced off against Team Ontario, Team Saskatchewan, Team North/Newfoundland, Team Alberta 1 and Team Alberta 2. Team BC is now 3 time Dino Cup Champions in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions.
