“Champion of the Crescent” Paddle Board Event for Youth Mental Health Returns this Summer

Surrey, BC (May 18, 2022) – Surrey Hospitals Foundation’s signature summer fundraising event, “Champion of the Crescent” paddle board event is returning this summer at Blackie Spit Park on Crescent Beach in Surrey.
This marquee event takes place on Saturday, July 23rd, raises funds for youth mental health, which has seen a dramatic rise in numbers especially due to COVID-19 in the past two years. Surrey is home to more children and teens than any other city in Western Canada.
Joined by Presenting Sponsor EllisDon, Centre Stage Sponsor LMS, and Course Sponsor Houle Electric, the Foundation aims to raise $200,000 for youth programs at Surrey Memorial Hospital as well as for renovating an outdoor learning space at Shirley Dean Pavilion, used for group sessions, recreation, gardening programs and other supportive initiatives for youth.

It is a fun team building event which directly benefit our community’s children and teenagers during these difficult times.”
Champion of the Crescent is perfect for corporate team building, or family bonding. Teams of four paddlers will compete in fast-paced water relays for a chance to win the coveted LMS Champion of the Crescent trophy.
Festivities include a Paddler’s Village, interactive family activities, a contest for best team costumes and for the team that fell the most, plus a swag bag for all paddlers.
Registration is $2,500 per team of four. Paddles and boards will be provided for paddlers during the race, with a paddle board orientation prior to the event. Those interested in supporting the cause without having to paddle board can also sponsor a group of youth participants.
