Vancouver, BC – June 21, 2018 Soren Schou, a local Vancouverite, who has lived with multiple sclerosis (MS) for 20 years aims to raise $20,000 for the MS Society of Canada through the annual MS Golf Challenge taking place on September 10th at Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course. To celebrate Soren raising $20,000 for his 20 years with MS, Agrima Botanicals will match Soren’s $20,000 raised, doubling the total to $40,000.
Now in its 22nd year, the MS Golf Challenge is a marathon golf event; dedicated, hardcore golfers tee off in the morning, and play as many holes as possible before lunch. After a one-hour break, the afternoon is reserved for the more traditional 18-hole shot-gun format with several foursomes at each tee box. The event concludes with a spectacular gala dinner, live music and award ceremony.
Soren has been involved in raising funds and awareness for people living with MS through his participation at the annual MS Golf Challenge since 1999. His determination in advocating to find a cure for the disease has led him to fundraise an estimated $180,000 for the MS Society of Canada since his first MS Golf Challenge almost two decades ago.
“When I was diagnosed with MS in 1998, the first thing I thought was the debilitating effects of the disease and how it will affect my life,” says Soren. “After experiencing my first MS relapse and learning how much it can affect people’s lives, I started looking for ways to spread the word about MS which brought me to the MS Golf Challenge.”
This year, Soren hopes to continue his fundraising efforts by setting a goal that will be matched by Agrima Botanicals. Agrima has supported the MS Society of Canada for over four years and their ongoing support stems from colleagues, employee family members and medical patients who live with MS.
“While I have recovered most of my agility and strength, others are not as fortunate; these are the people I golf and fundraise for now,” shares Soren.
Soren has organized a 20/40 Benefit Concert on June 27th, featuring local band Trilojay at the Pint in Vancouver. All proceeds at the concert will go towards his fundraising goal.
