The upcoming Range Rover Electric is an all-electric version of the automaker’s flagship SUV. All-new for 2027, the Electric will be available in standard and long-wheelbase versions. It already looks expensive and is a real feather in Range Rover’s already significant portfolio. Built on the Land Rover MLA platform, the EV will feature the stiffest chassis this model has ever had. It will also continue to be offered as a regular gasoline-engined version, a plug-in hybrid, and the new EV model. The Electric variant sits lower than the gasoline-engine model for better handling, and the EV suspension is uprated to handle the heavier electric batteries. A height-adjustable air-spring suspension system is included and can raise the Range Rover Electric for additional ground clearance when traveling off-road. All-wheel drive is standard, and the Electric has an electronic traction management system that monitors for wheel slip on adverse surfaces.

“The Range Rover Electric still retains Land Rover’s core qualities of prestige and luxury, with the added bonus of all-electric power and a decent driving range to boot. The price is premium for the Electric model and is reflected in the specification.”
Interior-wise, the cabin is identical across all models, except that the EV includes a display and readings for the electric power unit. Exterior differences include an EV-specific aero grille and aero wheel designs. The Range Rover Electric will also feature a front trunk, or “frunk.”
The electric variant is powered by a pair of electric motors that provide all-wheel drive traction and 542 horsepower. Under the Range Rover Electric’s floor is an 118.5-kWh battery pack using a high-power 800-volt architecture, which enables a 10% to 80% charge in 22 minutes, or 320 kilometers in 15 minutes using a DC charger. Level 2 charging from almost zero to full takes approximately seven hours. Land Rover claims an official estimate of 531 kilometers of EV driving range in ideal conditions. A NACS (Tesla-style) charge port is located at the rear of the front passenger side, with dual ports available as an option, along with a 7.5-meter charge cord. A vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability will be available initially, with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) to be added later.

Cabin-wise, as expected, the Range Rover Electric offers a high-end luxury cabin, superbly finished and kitted out with lush leathers, premium bright metal, and highly layered wood trim. Wool or synthetic trim materials are also available for those who want a leather-free interior. The minimalist look is set off by clean, sparse dash and interior surfaces that are elegantly finished. The cabin simply exudes quiet luxury with fine stitching, thick premium leathers, textiles, and aluminum trim. Cabin storage is flexible, and the rear seats fold for extra cargo space. Depending on whether you choose standard or long-wheelbase models, interior seating can be arranged to seat four, five, or seven occupants, depending on configuration and option choices. Meanwhile, the third row in long-wheelbase trims is better suited for kids or smaller adults, as headroom is tight.
Standard equipment on the Range Rover Electric includes a 13.1-inch curved Pivo Pro infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa voice assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a premium 15-speaker Meridian stereo or an optional 19-speaker Meridian stereo. Audiophiles can also opt for a 35-speaker Meridian stereo or a 21-speaker SV Electrostatic stereo for superb, concert-hall-like sound. Other standard features include in-dash navigation, wireless smartphone charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 13.7-inch digital gauge display. A rear-seat entertainment system with dual 11.4-inch displays is available.
In terms of cargo capacity, there is no compromise compared with the gasoline version because the underfloor batteries do not intrude into the cabin. An optional motorized divider for the cargo area is also available. Range Rover’s ubiquitous split rear liftgate can be flipped and used as a seating perch when parked.
In sum, the Range Rover Electric still retains Land Rover’s core qualities of prestige and luxury, with the added bonus of all-electric power and a decent driving range. The price is premium for the Electric model and is reflected in the specification. Not a particularly affordable SUV; however, it is recommended when only the best of British premium luxury will do.
The 2027 Range Rover Electric is estimated to be priced between $200,800 and $229,756 in Canada.
