The new 2024 BMW i7 M70 sedan is lauded as the prestige brand’s “most powerful EV” ever. The impressive all-electric sedan sets new conventions with its stunning style and features. As the brand’s flagship EV, this jaw-dropping luxury sedan is equipped with top-draw features, engineering, and technological advancements. For example, the M70 has two electric motors with a combined horsepower rating of 650, beating the popular BMW i40 M50 with its 536 horsepower rating. In addition, according to BMW, the M70 can reach zero to 100 km/h in a fast 3.7 seconds with a peak torque output of 811 pounds per foot.
Like its predecessors, the BMW i7 M70 boasts a sleek and stylish appearance that complements its superior on-road performance. This model is distinguishable by its M-specific design and broad, complicated front fascia setup. The BMW i7 sets itself apart with black side skirts, trim, and rear diffuser insert, alongside its imposing front design and the additional visual impact of its contour lighting near the kidney grille.
M-specific touches include M-designed side skirts, high-gloss Shadow line trim, a rear apron with unique diffuser inserts, and discreet M logos. Opt for the M Performance Professional package—and buyers gain black-painted calipers, a black M spoiler, a black accent strip between the rear lights, and a black inlay for the rear apron. The press pictures look stunning, and there are over 100 numerous BMW M exclusive paint finishes, including matte-finish Frozen hues and, for the first time, the BMW Individual two-tone treatments.
The speed in this four-door sedan is accomplished thanks to the impressively powerful electric motors equipped in this model. At the center is the EV Powertrain drawing on electric motors on both axles, producing 650 horsepower and 748 lb-ft of torque (or 811 lb-ft when M Launch Control or the M Sport Boost function is activated). The sedan uses this horsepower to rocket from zero to 100 km/h in a scant 3.7 seconds, while for safety’s sake, I guess it capped top speed at 250 km/h.
The M70 has two electric motors with a combined horsepower rating of 650, powering the M70 from zero to 100 km/h in a quick 3.7 seconds.
The BMW i7 M70xDrive posts a combined electric power consumption rating of 23.8 to 20.8 kWh per 100 kilometers. The battery pack produces 101.7 kWh of energy and an EV range of approximately 474 kilometers. A Level 3 charge maxes out at 195 kW, giving the driver 170 kilometers in just 10 minutes. There is also a “MAX RANGE” mode that reduces drive power and top speed, increasing the range by 15 to 25 percent, according to BMW.
However, the BMW i7 M70 is practical. It will offer drivers an incredible performance that is complimented by impressive long-distance driving capabilities. In addition, the M70 can go the distance thanks to various features that reduce power consumption and highly integrated drive units. These features include the integrated heating and cooling system for the powertrain and cabin, heat pump technology, and adaptive braking energy recuperation technology.
Other tech goodies include an adaptive air suspension system, electronically controlled dampers, the M Launch Control function, the M Sport Boost function, integral active steering, the Executive Drive Pro program, active roll stabilization, and an M sport brake system.
Interior-wise, buyers gain a super luxury cabin with top-notch leather, premium materials, and a gamut of technology. The latest version of the BMW Operating System, 8.5 with Quick Select, is there. This new OS allows users to make using and selecting functions and services more intuitive using the i7s curved display screen. The interior includes reclining rear seats and the 31-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen.
It can increase even further performance when Sport Mode is selected; drivers get a combined torque output of 748 lb-ft, while up to 811 lb-ft is available when sending the car from a standing start with launch control. Meanwhile, the M Sport Boost function triggers a “MAX” artificial “over-boost” mode for even more heady acceleration. With its stellar state-of-the-art engineering, bank-vault-like build quality, luxury, and performance—it’s one luxury sedan to aspire to, so look for an entire test drive soon.
Pricing for the BMW i7 M70 xDrive will start at $185,000.
