Lamborghini’s new Urus SUV will feature styling cues from the 1970s Lamborghini LM002 and the iconic Countach sports car. Five years after the concept, the production version of the Lamborghini Urus is here. The Urus is Lamborghini’s first attempt at a modern high-performance crossover, and it’s going to spearhead an entirely new generation of ultimate sports SUVs. The new Urus is a radical departure for a brand better known for low-slung sports cars. Underpinning it all is the Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform, with a roomy cabin for four, and 616-litre trunk with split-fold seats. Power is via a 4.0 liter V8, twin turbocharged engine with 641bhp and torque at 627lb ft. The drivetrain is completed by a sophisticated all-wheel drive system via a central Torsen differential splitting torque front and rear, while an active rear diff with torque vectoring ability transfers drive from left to right as needed. The world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle is easy, safe and fun to drive, thanks to its ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligent Management) Selector that delivers pure driving emotions and new specific settings for the best driving dynamics. Urus is a versatile car perfectly suited for everyday driving, but it also provides the distinct engine sound, all of the thrill and the high performance of a real Lamborghini. The Urus will be built in a brand new factory at Sant’Agata in Italy. which in time should double production at the Italian car maker from today’s 3500 cars annually. Canadian pricing to be announced.
