Premier’s statement on Lunar New Year

On Lunar New Year, people in British Columbia and around the world gather in celebrations to say goodbye to the Year of the Dog and welcome the Year of the Pig.

Premier John Horgan has released the following statement in celebration of Lunar New Year, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.

“On Lunar New Year, people in British Columbia and around the world gather in celebrations to say goodbye to the Year of the Dog and welcome the Year of the Pig.

“The new year is a time to reflect on the past year, prepare for the year ahead, gather with family, relatives and friends, and give thanks to the generations who have come before us.

“This year, we will strengthen our economy and strive for healthier communities. Together, we will make life better for people and provide opportunities for future generations.

“As we join in vibrant parades and community celebrations, exchange lucky red envelopes and share meals, we wish each other good fortune for the year to come.

“To the many British Columbians celebrating Lunar New Year, I wish you all a prosperous Year of the Pig. May the new year bring you good health, good luck and prosperity.
