Surrey, BC: The Board of Directors of the Canadian Amateur Sport Society, organizers of the Canada Cup International Softball Championship, held annually for the past 25 years at Softball City, have spent the past few months reviewing what may be probable, possible and not possible with respect to COVID – 19 and Canada Cup. Today, it is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce that the 2020 event is cancelled.

“We were scheduled to have had the largest tournament in the history of our event, with over 110 teams registered to compete” says Board Chair Greg Timm. “It’s incredibly disappointing for the young athletes who count on this event as a marquee showcase tournament. Hundreds of scholarships for academic institutions across North America for these exceptional female athletes come out of this event, and the cancellation is a significant loss to our sport. It is also important to note that the Canada Cup has come to signify the highest level of both play and sportsmanship in our sport in world.”

Planning will now begin on the 2021 tournament. Our Organizing Committee, staff and the hundreds of amazing volunteers are committed to make the 26th Canada Cup tournament, scheduled for July 2 – 11, 2021,  a premier celebration. We look forward to hosting a tournament that continues to be recognized as one of the greatest international softball tournaments in the world,” says Organizing Committee Chair Greg Timm.
