Inspired to show his support for the hardworking Richmond health care team, 12-year-old Tiger Guo and his family organized a charity concert on October 8 at the Norman Rothstein Theatre and raised over $21,000 to improve health care in Richmond.

“The local health care team is essential for the people of the community and have been there providing compassionate care despite all the challenges they have been facing,” explains Mr. Zhi Yong Guo, Tiger’s father. “Tiger wants to show his support in his own way, and we hope this donation will continue to help build a better and healthier future for everyone including children in Richmond.”

Drawing a packed theatre, Tiger took the stage for 2.5 hours and brought joy to the more than 300 attendees with his piano and drum scores of classical and modern Western and Eastern songs. Tiger, who has autism, began taking piano lessons at the age of 8. Over the past 4 years, he developed a tremendous passion for music, with interests in piano, drums, violin and guitar. He practiced five hours a day to prepare for this charity concert.

“No matter your age or your abilities, you can make a difference,” adds Guo. “Every child has potential, even those with autism and, when we see their potential, we must support them fully; that way they will grow strong and lively. We are truly grateful for all the support received from Tiger’s teachers and friends and those who attended the event and made a donation.”

“This is an incredible act of kindness from one of the youngest members of our community,” says Spencer Gall, Campaign Director, Richmond Hospital Foundation. “Thank you to Tiger and his family for your big hearts and supporting our health care teams with this thoughtful and generous gift.”
