The Chevrolet Corvette celebrates its 70th Anniversary in 2023 and arrives with killer looks, power, and performance. The one to get is the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z06 with a new race-bred, high-revving 670 hp V8 engine, a dual-clutch transmission sending power to the rear wheels, and more performance than ever before.

The Z06 is packaged in the most aggressive yet sensuous bodywork we have ever seen from Chevrolet. It is as complex looking as any Italian or German supercar out there. With its mid-engine format, dramatic rear flying buttresses, various intake ducts, strakes, and swoopy cutaway lines, the 2023 Corvette Z06 is unlike any Chevrolet. Best of all, it is available as a Targa-topped coupe or hardtop convertible.

The big news for the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette is the introduction of the track-ready Z07 package that includes a signature one-person hand-built flat-plane 760 horsepower V8 engine. The high-revving V8 is linked to a Tremec eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is refined with a shorter final-drive ratio (5.56:1), reinforced internals, and upgraded lubrication to cope with extra hard driving. The Z07 package is designed so the Corvette can go straight from the road to the racetrack without modifications or missing a beat. The top speed is estimated at 302. kph and 0-100kph happen in just 3.2 seconds approximately.

The Z07 package also offers the Carbon Aero package as standard. It adds an excellent ground-effect-inducing rear wing, a pro-style front splitter with a full underwing, dive planes on each corner of the nose, and underbody strakes for frontal ground-effect downforce. Additional features include a unique FE7 suspension with specific v4.0 Magnetic Ride Control.

To keep up with the stunning looks and performance, the Z07 offers suitably high-tech highlights. It has extra light wheels, high-performance Michelin tires, and high-performance suspension, brake, and aerodynamic modifications and components. Magnetic dampers are standard, and the Z07 package also offers super expensive Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with 15.7-inch discs and larger calipers. Between the brake and wheel upgrade changes, the Z07 package loses nearly 19 pounds of unsprung weight per corner – meaning the suspension and steering can react quicker and with more precise performance to driver inputs.

To save all that expensive front-ground effects kit, an available front camera monitors the nose. A powered front lift can also raise the Corvette two inches higher at low speeds, making it easier to get up ramps and low driveways.

You’ll find special sports seats, sleek, racy trim, and design elements. The dash and 12-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch version of Chevrolet’s very well-executed Infotainment 3 system are present. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. It is a comfortable, snug interior that is not too cramped. Other positives include the Targa top roof that can be stored over the engine compartment and a front and rear trunk.

On the road, the flat plane V8 revs from an insane torque curve that ranges from 3,600 rpm to an impressive 8,600 rpm redline. The thrilling exhaust note and super quick shifts from the revised eight-speed dual-clutch transmission mean a simply light-speed acceleration. The Tremec M1M transmission is quick to anticipate the fast downshifts needed. It holds gears just that fraction of a second resulting in significant transitions. Manual mode is also excellent, with a press of the M button on the center console and quick flips of the carbon-fiber paddle shifters for a more visceral and tactile burst of speeds.

Handling and steering are excellent both on the road and the track, the lighter unsprung weight at the wheels adding to the quick attack turn-ins, exiting and drifting when you push the car hard. The Z07 is a rocket when pushed, but it also proves to be an easy and forgiving ride on the road. Braking courtesy of the pricy Brembo ceramic brake package is superb, with a confident-inducing modulated, firm feel.

For the price, the CorvetteZO7 version remains a bargain compared to the European competition in this sector.  It looks as good and matches performance against players as the Porsche 911 GT3,  Audi R8 V10 Performance and Mercedes-AMG GT. The Z07 is the perfect no- compromise street and track car for those craving high performance with an American badge.
