Living Traditions, a concert featuring acclaimed vocalist from India, Arshad Ali Khan, along with Grammy-nominated Subhen Chatterjee on tabla and Akhil Jobanputra on harmonium. Hailed as a child prodigy by the likes of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Arshad Ali Khan is an artist who has achieved much acclaim since his impactful performance at the age of nine at the prestigious Sawai Gandharva Festival. Arshad is a descendant of the traditional family lineage of the Kirana gharana, tracing his genealogy to the gharana’s founder Ustad Abdul Karim Khan. He is thus intertwined with this living tradition as its stewardship has passed from generation to the next in his family. Arshad was trained extensively by his maternal uncles, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan, and has performed extensively inside and outside of India.
