Blair Qualey, president, and CEO of the New Car Dealers Association of BC is in a positive mood as Drishti interviewed him in a recent phone interview. Qualey, a polished, accomplished speaker, talked about the upcoming 98th Vancouver International Auto Show which returns Wednesday, March 28 – Sunday, April 1, 2018, at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
“It’s the most important annual event for the auto industry in British Columbia and best-attended consumer show in Western Canada, and we have year upon year growth attendance figures. It’s always an exciting time.” He says. The Vancouver International Auto Show is owned and operated by the New Car Dealers Association of BC (www.newcardealers.ca). It is British Columbia’s new model showcase for the Canadian automotive industry and represents over 40 distinct brands from the world’s leading manufacturers.
“This year the show will feature over 450 vehicles from 40 national and international brands. And we have expanded the Auto Shows footprint to allow for more content. As usual there will be an impressive display of supercars, luxury automobiles, green cars, hybrid and electric vehicles. We are thrilled to welcome almost every auto manufacturer with vehicles for sale in Canada, back to the Auto Show “He adds.
Show favorites include the always-breathtaking exotics section. Luxury brands including Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, McLaren and Porsche, and of course there will be a lot of interactive displays and things for all the family to do. “Cars and exhibits won’t just be roped off; families can clamber around, really explore, feel and touch vehicles they may be interested in owning. “We are all about engaging the public,” Qualey says. Adding, “This year, we have about 36 vehicles that patrons can ride and drive as well as adding a significant amount of features to the event, all of which appeal to British Columbian’s love of the automobile.”
“This year there is a real effort from manufacturers who have these kinds of vehicles, to focus on hybrid and electrics,” Qualey, said, “whether it’s straight electric cars or plug-in electric hybrids. Green technology is top of mind, and it is the auto show’s job, Qualey said to provide a positive experience to help with the letting the public and consumer’s know what’s on offer.
He added that at the show, consumers would be able to see the very latest electric models that dealers will have in their showrooms, and of course fantastic looking concept vehicles that hint at the future. Housing an increased number of vehicles, stalls, and exhibits means show patrons get to experience all the automotive world has to offer; the latest from Manufacturers, classics, exotics, or customs. Being family friendly is always essential, and there are various interactive elements like test drive zones, simulators, and a collector car auction. You can also enter to win a vehicle, racing packages and other prizes in various competitions, and prize draws.
