The 17th World Sanskrit Conference was inaugurated by Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble HRD Minister of India on 9th July 2018 at the Chan Centre UBC, Vancouver.

The 17th World Sanskrit Conference was inaugurated by Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble HRD Minister of India on 9th July 2018 at the Chan Centre UBC, Vancouver. Mr Andrew Szeri, UBC Provost and Mr Murali Chandrashekaran, Vice Provost International received Hon’ble Minister and represented the University at the event. High Commissioner Shri Vikas Swarup and Consul General Smt. Abhilasha Joshi were also present on the occasion. In the evening on the same day, an Inaugural Banquet was hosted by Hon’ble HRD Minister for the 500+ Sanskrit scholars and Conference delegates on 9th July 2018 at UBC. High Commissioner and Hon’ble HRD Minister spoke on the occasion and Minister Jinny Sims also congratulated the participants and organizers for the successful hosting of the WSC.

The inaugural day concluded with a gala Kuttiyatam performance by Margi Madhu Chakyar group courtesy the Indian Council For Cultural Relations on the opening night of #17thWorldSanskritConference at the prestigious Chan Centre, UBC Vancouver. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister for Human Resource Development, Govt of India and by Ministers of BC Govt Hon’ble Jinny Sims, Hon’ble Bruce Ralston and Dy Speaker Hon’ble Raj Chouhan, High Commissioner and Consul General attended the event which was co hosted by the Indian Summer Festival in partnership with the 17th WSC Vancouver 2018.
