12th Annual A Night of Miracles

For the past 12 years, the South Asian community has gathered together at A Night of Miracles for a festive evening of glamour, entertainment and fine dining—all in support of BC Children’s Hospital. To date, generous guests at this event have raised more than $6 million to advance care at the only hospital in the province devoted exclusively to kids.

BCBIN and GIV Society Food Drive

The BCIBN team together with GIV Society gathered on September 26th, 2020 to prepare meals for the underprivileged. A few hundred meals were prepared and then donated to the three different shelters in the Lower Mainland.

Storyboard unveiled at R.A. Nicholson Park

“This storyboard is an important reflection on a significant moment in Canadian history,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. “Surrey is a diverse City, and we embrace people from all over the world. This permanent storyboard reinforces that we will learn from, and not forget the injustices of the past. Racism has no place in our City.”

A New Beginning – Kids and families at the new Sunny Hill Health Centre at BC Children’s Hospital will now receive care in a place designed just for them.

Sunny Hill Health Centre is the only pediatric developmental care and rehabilitation centre of its kind in BC. Patients here may be recovering from life-altering events like traumatic injuries or strokes, or receive assessments or care for developmental conditions like cerebral palsy. These children often show resilience beyond their years.

Statement by the Prime Minister on Rosh Hashana

“Tonight at sunset, Jewish communities in Canada and around the world will celebrate Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year.

“Rosh Hashana is the beginning of the High Holidays, culminating in Yom Kippur. Normally, it’s a time for families and loved ones to reflect on the past year and their hopes for the future, and come together to pray and share meals.
