“Either he fears his fate too much, or his deserts are too small. Who not put it to the touch to win or lose it all.”
Inspiring words of Kalwinder Dosanjh, founder, and CEO of the Kids Play Foundation, who is a believer in connecting communities and building rapport with youth. Kids Play is working towards keeping kids away from the lifestyle of drugs, gangs, and violence. Dosanjh has been tirelessly serving the community for over two decades now. His dedication and commitment to his people have built trust and a rock solid relationship with the community. Whether it’s taking a desperate mothers call who is fearful for her child’s life because he’s been lured into the gang lifestyle, or dealing with the frustrated parents of a child who hasn’t returned home for days, Dosanjh attends to each cry for help.
Kal is no ordinary officer, his experience as a Detective with the VPD is what ultimately pushed him to open up doors for the youth and provide hope where there was nothing but despair. He started his community service at the young age of 15. The concept of giving to the needy, to someone who could never give anything back other than their gratitude is something that was instilled in him from the beginning. Realizing just how lucky he was to have these morals and values and to have the people in his life who were there to teach him these selfless traits is what fuels the passion within him. Recognizing the lack of programs and outlets for our youth to turn to, he started his nonprofit, Kids Play Youth Foundation, with Arjan Singh Bhullar, who himself is a Commonwealth Gold medalist. Their values aligned like two perfect pieces of a puzzle and it leads to the birth of this organization. Dosanjh and his team have served over 25,000 youth over the last two years and are looking forward to helping much more.
“Winners aren’t born winners, but rather chiseled from their will to succeed.”
Kal proudly said these words as a member of Kids Play recently got recruited into the RCMP and another member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Dosanjh is an epitome of passion, hard work, and dedication. He is a mentor to the youth of all ages and backgrounds all over North America. His work within the community is setting a great example for not only our youth here but also for those around the world.
