ENTHUSIASM, POSITIVE SPIRIT—MADE DRISHTI AWARDS GALA 2016 A GREAT SUCCESS

Drishti Media Group celebrated the power of Innovation and Excellence with a remarkable fun-filled Night of Inspiration and Recognition

Special thanks to our Title Sponsor Perminder Chohan of Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network Richmond South.

The 2nd annual DRISHTI AWARDS GALA, held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Royal King Palace in Surrey, was a privilege to acknowledge these successful community members. Business leaders, philanthropists, community activists, culinary artists, health care innovators, and several industry pioneers have been granted for their accomplishments. Judges for the DRISHTI awards were well-known South Asians who also stand out for their great accomplishments: Wally Oppal, a Canadian lawyer, former judge and provincial politician, who is currently serving as the Chancellor of the Thompson Rivers University, Kal Dosanjh, a Senior Vancouver Police Officer and founder of KidsPlay Foundation, Raj Arneja of Nanak Foods and VIBC

The event began with an inspired performance by world-renowned Shiamak Group Canada, who dazzled the audiences’ visual and auditory senses with their collaborated performances with Aerialists and Contortionists. They recognized their sponsors by having them on the stage and performing with them. Our Emcees, CTV’s Sonia Beeksma and Global TV’s Sonia Sunger, kept the proceedings moving with their witty banter and interactions with audience and honorees.

The audience also had the opportunity to witness one of the most talented fashion designers in the world- Parvesh Jai – showcasing many elegant designs for men and women. Our two elegant Emcees had their hair and make-up done by Blue Ruby Artistry. The stunning décor was provided by Red Carpet Gallery. The Royal King Palace provided a sumptuous, satisfying dinner. Guests were also greeted by cocktails as they entered the hall.

The packed audience featured such dignitaries as Members of Parliament Sukh Dhaliwal and Randeep Singh, Ministers Amrik Virk, Peter Fassbender and his wife Charlene Fassbender, Consul General of India Rajiv K Chander, Members of the Legislative Assembly Scott Hamilton, and Councilor Tom Gill from the City of Surrey, Tom was recognized for his excellent contribution.

Our guest of honor for the evening was Honorable Premier Christy Clark who was presented a trophy by Perminder Chohan of Desjardins Financial Security. Independent Network and Nawal Tandon, Publisher of Drishti Magazine.
