South Asian Community And Business Leaders Set One Million Dollar Goal, Raising Funds For Childhood Diabetes Research At BC Children’s Hospital

Influential community and business leaders from the South Asian community are being asked by the Development Committee at BCCHF to share in their commitment to further transform Type 1 Diabetes Research and care for the children at the BC Children’s Hospital.  

Influential community and business leaders from the South Asian community are being asked by the Development Committee at BCCHF to share in their commitment to further transform Type 1 Diabetes Research and care for the children at the BC Children’s Hospital.

Diabetes is very common amongst South Asian community, and supporting the research towards finding a cure is imperative. Type 1 Diabetes is a serious, life long, and often life limiting disease. By 2030 the number of children diagnosed with diabetes will increase by 35 percent.

In 2021 the community leaders generously donated $540,000 towards diabetes transformation project and were instrumental in helping to propel the project towards finish line. The committee is now seeking to raise $1 million towards diabetes research. Committee leaders are appealing to the members of the community to once again show their generosity to this important initiative and help fund this exceptional research.

The Development Committee at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation was formed in 2021 to engage the community on initiatives at the BC Children’s Hospital. The committee is comprised of prominent leaders, includes

Mr. Peter Raju-Peace Arch Duty Free (Chair), Mr. Kamal Sharma-KVP Entertainers, Mrs. Manjit Gill-Cloverdale Fuels,

Dr. Lovedeep Randhawa-Triton Dental, Mr. Bilal Cheema-Cheema Strategies.

Committee expects to complete this fundraiser by August 2022.
